MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – The CIS countries hold elections for themselves, not for the West, CIS First Deputy Secretary General Leonid Anfimov told the media, BelTA has learned.
"We hold elections for ourselves, in accordance with our legislation and norms that comply with international law and international standards on democracy, transparency and freedom of elections. Therefore, we provide everything as required," Leonid Anfimov said.
"Are they undemocratic because OSCE observers were not invited? Are they the ultimate truth? If there are observers from the OSCE, does it mean that elections are democratic?” Leonid Anfmov asked. “This is how they write their findings, three months before the elections. But I'm sorry, they are absolutely inconsistent with what is actually happening in the countries that conduct election campaigns. That's why they weren't invited."
