MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – Political analyst and publicist Dmitry Kulikov explained why the West is provoking Russia to launch a nuclear strike against Ukraine in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
"Firstly, I suppose Americans are just bored and resentful of being the only country in the world that has used nuclear weapons. Secondly, they expect that if Russia does this, this will lead to two things: the West will be able to use any weapons against us and in general act in any way, using any methods, because it will be justified, and this will weaken Russia's ties with its friends and allies or even break them," Dmitry Kulikov said.
According to him, the West's primary goal, nevertheless, is to obtain the legitimate right to use any weapons. "They also intend to obtain the right for indiscriminate action, without moral and ethical reservations. Not to mention legal ones. Then the West can say that they were not the first to start this. This is their main goal. Weakening ties with our friends and allies is also important for them, but it is already secondary task," he stated.
Dmitry Kulikov emphasized that if Russia is forced to use nuclear weapons, it will strike not on Ukrainian territory. "On 28 February 2022, I published an article titled ‘We are not at war with Ukraine’. It was clear on 28 February, four days after the launch of the special military operation. Now we definitely understand it. If we have to use nuclear weapons, we will use them against our enemy, not against their puppet. The decision-making centers are not in Ukraine. Kiev does not decide anything," the publicist summarized.
