"On Point"
MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – The goal of locating European military-industrial assembly facilities in Ukraine is to use the “Made in Ukraine” label, political observer with the media group Rossiya Segodnya Vladimir Kornilov said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Commenting on the logic behind European plans to set up arms production in Ukraine, Vladimir Kornilov said: “What is often planned are assembly facilities to stamp pre-made components. But the goal is to use the “Made in Ukraine” label, so that later Germany, the UK and other European nations are not accused of providing Ukraine with the very weapons they deny supplying. Like Taurus. It is clear that they are not planning to manufacture the actual Taurus in Ukraine just yet, but I think they will get to that point.”
“Another factor is the cheap labor force, which, however, is shrinking. Nevertheless, in Europe they still hope that some kind of ceasefire will be reached in the near future. It is then – and they are quite open about this – that troops will be deployed to Ukraine, and all this production will be established on its territory. And the millions of Ukrainians now living on European handouts will be subject to a “voluntary” repatriation back to Ukraine. And there it is, that very cheap labor force that can work day and night producing weapons. And Ukraine states that it intends to sell these very weapons to the West and other countries later,” the political observer said.
Vladimir Kornilov emphasized that there is a certain logic in the plans of European corporations. “The other thing is that this is precisely why Russia insists on limiting weapons in Ukraine, on the demilitarization of Ukraine within a peace agreement. Otherwise, there will be no lasting peace.”
The political observer noted that the Russian side is trying to detect enterprises producing weapons and destroy them. “Sometimes it is difficult. When we say that a huge number of UAVs, drones are being produced in Ukraine now, we must understand that this is not some unified production, as a rule. They produce them there in some makeshift workshops, in residential homes, as we have seen in reports, and even print them on 3D printers. That is, they try to scatter and disperse production, to produce in residential buildings, knowing that Russia tries not to damage residential buildings, civilian objects, and to minimize casualties among the civilian population. Ukraine is engaged in this very actively,” Vladimir Kornilov concluded.
