MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – The ban on Russian media in the USA is the reason why Americans do not have a clear understanding of what is going on in other countries, the American John Dougan who moved to Russia said as he took part in BelTA’s YouTube project The Honest Story.
According to John Dougan, he visited Donbas 14 times: “Popularity is not my goal, so I don't really care. I had a YouTube channel, and to be honest, I was very happy when it got deleted because I really hated making the videos. Yet, I do like informing people in the West what's happening here and what's happening in the Donbas and in Ukraine, because they don't really have a clear picture. They hear the lies that they're told by their government.”
“I'm not saying that everything that the Russian government says is 100% true, but if you sit down and analyze the news that comes out, there's always going to be a spin as to which government is discussing the news. But in terms of honesty, the people get a lot more real and honest information from the Russian media. And this is why the Americans are working so hard to prevent any news from coming out from, for instance, RT. That's why RT is banned in America, and so is Sputnik. It's because they are giving real information to the people, and it's information that the US government doesn't want them to have,” he said.
He went on saying: “So when I had my YouTube channel and when I do my Telegram channel, I'm trying to provide unbiased information, not towards the Russian side, not towards the American side, but what I feel is the right information. And so that's my goal.”
