MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Trump will hear Russia’s actual proposals for the first time, American political analyst Steve Samarin told the ONT television channel commenting on the forthcoming meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States of America, BelTA reports.
“Of course, our President [Trump] wants peace. He has stated this repeatedly. He wants the war to end as soon as possible – naturally, on his terms. But this is impossible,” said Steve Samarin.
Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are expected to meet in Alaska on 15 August. “The negotiations will definitely take place. Although there are forces desperately trying to derail them – including our conservatives and European bureaucrats who benefit from prolonging the war. They have significant influence and are doing everything to prevent these talks. Nevertheless, the meeting will take place,” the political analyst emphasized.
