MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – In The Honest Story project on BelTA’s YouTube channel, American Jeffrey Blank who moved to Belarus gave his take on the 2020 events in Belarus, on the opposition’s false accusations against him, as well as on his support for Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
Speaking about the 2020 events in Belarus, Jeffrey Blank noted: “It was a nightmare. It was almost a color revolution. We were shocked. We support President Lukashenko.”
“I was very nervous and anxious, I went to a square with the red and green flag of the Republic of Belarus. There was an opposition march. They were walking by. I was standing opposite them, and they were very angry,” the man recalled.
He shared a personal story. “I paid a big price: I had a client, it was an IT company, I taught them for more than four years. And the next day they dropped me. I was shocked, we had a very close relationship, it was more than just a job for me. I had made no secret of my support for President Lukashenko, I had said this before. But I think they believed that I was just a naive foreigner, just a naive American. They told me: you are a fascist, you support violence, you are a traitor. They thought they were patriots and I was a traitor,” said Jeffrey Blank.
He added ironically: “And now I’m still here, I want a residence permit, and they are in Poland. Is this a place for patriots of Belarus?”
