MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - Belarus and Vietnam are creating all the necessary conditions for even closer and more active comprehensive cooperation in al, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu told BelTA.
“As part of the agreements reached during the official visit of Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko to Vietnam in December 2023, last year the two countries intensified the exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels, including delegations led by ministers, heads of departments, regions, public organizations and research institutes,” the diplomat said.
“In 2024, Vietnam and Belarus completed domestic legal procedures (ratification) on the intergovernmental agreement on visa waiver for ordinary passport holders. It was signed during an official visit of Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko to Vietnam in December 2023,” the ambassador said.
The document comes into force on 30 January 2025. According to it, citizens of both countries holding ordinary passports can stay visa-free for up to 30 days per entry, with a total stay of up to 90 days within a calendar year.
“This is the first time a European country has canceled visa requirements for Vietnamese citizens,” the ambassador added.
According to Nguyen Van Ngu, the signing of this agreement and its entry into force is a clear demonstration of a new step in the good traditional friendship between the two countries. The move opens up many opportunities for extensive cooperation in many areas. It also demonstrates the desire of the two countries to create favorable conditions for tourism development, enhanced cooperation, cultural exchange, mutual exploration of markets and will contribute to the development of bilateral relations on all fronts.
“Thanks to this agreement and the fact that the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation have officially recognized mutual visas, there is reason to believe that more Vietnamese tourists will come to Belarus to experience scenic spots, unique dishes, enjoy the tranquility and hospitality of local people,” the Vietnamese ambassador to Belarus said.
He also emphasized: “Vietnam also hopes that Belarusian friends, who have already benefited from Vietnam's unilateral visa-free policy introduced in 2015, and now also take advantage of the intergovernmental agreement, will continue to choose Vietnam as an attractive destination for tourism and business opportunities, contributing to the strengthening and development of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.”
