MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - Tourism strengthens mutual understanding and traditional friendship between Belarus and China, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told the media before a meeting with representatives of the Chinese tourism industry to discuss further opportunities for cooperation in tourism between the two countries, BelTA learned.
"When Chinese travel to Belarus or Belarusians come to China, they not only enjoy unusual landscapes and explore unique cultures, but also strengthen mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two peoples," the diplomat believes.
He stressed that during the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China in March 2023, the two leaders signed an agreement on cooperation in tourism. The two countries also took a number of measures to promote cooperation in this area. "In particular, the visa policy was updated: in 2018 China and Belarus introduced a 30-day visa-free regime, which has significantly simplified entry and exit procedures for tourists and made travel more enjoyable," the ambassador said. “Air service was improved due to an increase in the number of flights from two to four weekly. Air China airline launched a direct flight Minsk - Beijing in 2015 and introduced the route Minsk - Xi'an - Beijing on 28 December last year. Belarusian airline Belavia launched the Urumqi - Minsk flight on 16 December 2024."
"These measures have reduced the time and financial costs for tourists and made international travel easy and quick,” Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan remarked.
