MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – China will maintain momentum in developing comprehensive cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told the media following the inauguration of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 25 March, BelTA learned.
"The Belarusian-Chinese relations are built on a solid political foundation. In 2022, the leaders of our two countries jointly announced that the Belarusian-Chinese relations reached a new historical level: an all-weather and all-round strategic partnership. This reflects the nature of cooperation between China and Belarus and is an embodiment of the friendship between our two nations," the ambassador stated.
"Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko maintain close ties, a high degree of mutual trust and deep friendship. Xi Jinping has emphasized that China always views the Belarusian-Chinese relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. Aleksandr Lukashenko has repeatedly stressed that if China is strong, Belarus is strong too," Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan said.
"China firmly supports Belarus' choice of development path based on its national realities and opposes any interference by external forces in Belarusian internal affairs. For a long time, Belarus has adhered to the One China principle and strongly supports China in protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity," the ambassador emphasized.

"China and Belarus share a broad range of common interests. China is Belarus' second largest trading partner," he said. "Belarus plays an important role in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and the Three Global Initiatives. Cooperation in mechanical engineering, agriculture and healthcare between the two countries is developing at a rapid pace. Joint projects like the China-Belarus Industrial Park demonstrate significant economic efficiency. Both sides hold similar positions on many international and regional matters, closely interact on multilateral platforms such as the UN, SCO and BRICS. Both countries stand as a strong force in combating hegemony and supporting peace and stability in the world."
According to the diplomat, the friendship between China and Belarus has a firm social foundation. "The people of both nations share similar values: the pursuit of peace, inclusivity and mutual learning between civilizations. Together, we stood against external threats during World War II, supported each other in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and firmly stood by one another throughout the process of national development and revival, continually strengthening and developing our traditional friendship. Time after time, we provide assistance and support to each other, deeply rooting the iron brotherhood of China and Belarus in the hearts of our peoples," Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan emphasized.
"The Chinese say: 'When hearts are close, distance does not matter - even thousands of miles won’t be a barrier.' The Belarusians say: 'Friendship is the greatest treasure.' China and Belarus will further their traditional friendship and cooperation in all areas for the benefit of their peoples," he stressed.
