MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – Belarusian medicines are of high quality and they are in great demand in Cuba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez told journalists, BelTA reports.

“Belarusian medicines are in great demand in Cuba. They are of very high quality. We have registered 53 Belarusian medicines,” Santiago Perez Benitez informed.

He went on saying that a Belarusian pharmaceutical industry delegation had recently visited Cuba. It took part in a specialized fair and built contacts with Cuban enterprises. “The process of signing contracts is already underway," the ambassador noted. “Cuban medicines have been available here for about 10 years. These are mainly cancer drugs that were included in treatment protocols. A cancer vaccine has been registered. We are currently working on registering three or four more drugs in Belarus,” he remarked.

“Most importantly, Cuba could be a hub for Belarusian exports meant for other countries of Latin America. We have mature relations, we know that Belarusians are our true friends,” added Santiago Perez Benitez.
