
MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – We see a comprehensive upsurge in bilateral cooperation. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belarus Rahmatulla Nazarov told the media following the meeting with Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Council of the Republic’s Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security, BelTA learned.
"We are witnessing unprecedented growth across all sectors, particularly in recent years. Our trade has expanded 2.5 to 3 times. In 2022, we first surpassed the half-billion-dollar threshold," Ambassador Rahmatulla Nazarov stated. "Last year saw 30% growth according to our statistics, with a further 17% increase in the first half of this year. Notably, both imports and exports are rising reciprocally, which is a clear evidence of deepening trade relations.”
The third Belarus-Uzbekistan Women’s Business Forum, themed “Belarus–Uzbekistan: Cooperation as a Driver of Sustainable Development” will convene in Vitebsk on 28–29 August. The forum is co-organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
"This has become a valued tradition," the Ambassador noted. "Following the forums for the past two years, we’ve achieved concrete results and meaningful agreements. This year, we’re setting our sights on even more ambitious targets.”
"We are finalizing the program of thematic sessions, encompassing diverse themes: youth policy initiatives, cooperation in healthcare, educational partnerships, and tourism development. A great focus will be placed on trade and economic cooperation."Our heads of state have prioritized economic cooperation, as it forms the cornerstone of our bilateral relations," Ambassador Rahmatulla Nazarov added. "Accordingly, our delegation will primarily comprise representatives from this sector and business communities. We anticipate the forum to culminate in substantial contracts.”
