Ambassador: Chinese people have improved their lives greatly

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) - Over the past decade, the Chinese people have achieved a comprehensive improvement in their lives, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at the opening of the photo exhibition “An Extraordinary Decade of China in the New Are” in the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

The head of the diplomatic mission cited some examples: “GDP per capita in China has grown from $6,300 to over $12,000, approaching the threshold of a high-income country, forming the largest group of middle-income people in the world. China's employment situation has greatly improved, with an average of more than 13 million new jobs created annually in cities. China has achieved a comprehensive victory in the fight against poverty, lifting nearly 100 million rural residents out of extreme poverty, historically solving the problem of absolute poverty that has plagued the Chinese people for thousands of years.”

The ambassador emphasized that China has built the world's largest education, social security and healthcare systems, and that life expectancy in the country has increased significantly. “China promotes the all-round development of culture and cultural industries. China stays committed to the concept of “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”, that is why great attention has been paid to environmental protection. New successes have also been achieved to secure general prosperity,” he said.
