MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Belarus and China are reliable friends and partners, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan told the media after the credentials ceremony in Minsk on 1 October, BelTA learned.
The head of the diplomatic mission noted that he intends to strengthen China's friendship with Belarus and mutually beneficial cooperation. "An all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership has been established between our countries," the diplomat said.
"I have been here for only two weeks, but I have already met many Belarusian friends and I hope that I will be able to immerse myself in the life of Belarusian society as soon as possible and make efforts together with our Belarusian friends to strengthen our friendship and cooperation,” Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan noted.
He also said that he visited Belarus 23 years ago, in 2001: "I see that many changes have taken place over the years under the leadership of the president. I see a lot of new buildings. People live calmly and well. Belarus is famous for its centuries-old history, rich culture, beautiful landscapes and, most importantly, kind, peaceful people."
"Being a true friend, we are happy for the success of our Belarusian friends and I am confident that under the leadership of the president, the people of Belarus will achieve even more success in building and developing their country," Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan continued.
"It is important that China and Belarus support each other on key issues that are of interest to both countries. We maintain in-depth cooperation in economy, trade, humanitarian matters, Belt and Road initiative. In-depth cooperation has been gaining momentum across all areas," the Chinese ambassador stressed.
Symbolically, Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan presented his credentials on 1 October, the day of founding of the People's Republic of China.
