MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) - China-Belarus relations maintain a trend of dynamic development, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said as he met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko on 30 August, BelTA has learned.
“I am indeed very happy to witness and participate in many outstanding events in the interstate relations during my tenure as China's ambassador to Belarus. My time in Belarus coincided with a special period in the relations between the two countries. Under the strategic leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, China-Belarus relations have maintained a trend of dynamic development and reached an unprecedented high level of all-weather and all-round strategic partnership,” Xie Xiaoyong said.
Trade and economic cooperation between our two countries has made advanced development, the ambassador said. “Last year, bilateral trade reached a new high of $8.4 billion, which is 2.8 times more than when I took office. An almost 3-time increase is a significant growth,” he emphasized. “The two countries have recently signed the agreement on trade in services and investment, which provides both parties with a wide space and great opportunities to further expand the scale and create new models of cooperation”.
