MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus will receive about 1 million doses of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine by the end of August, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Yuri Senko told the STV TV channel, BelTA informs.
“Throughout the first half of the year, China sent 400,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine registered in many countries of the world, including ours, free of charge. The vaccine is in great demand, it is highly efficient. The Healthcare Ministry, on behalf of the head of state, is negotiating the purchase of a commercial batch of the vaccine. China offers a good discount for the Republic of Belarus. We hope that a contract will be signed in the near future and by the end of August about 1 million doses of the vaccine will be sent to our country to be distributed among healthcare facilities taking part in the immunization program,” Yuri Senko said.
The ambassador added that negotiations are currently underway with three Chinese companies that produce vaccines. “We hope that a decision will be made soon on the production of vaccines jointly with China on the territory of Belarus,” he said.
