Ambassador: About 30,000 Kyrgyz soldiers lost their lives in Belarus during WWII

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – Around 30,000 Kyrgyzstan’s soldiers heroically laid down their lives on Belarusian land during the Great Patriotic War, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus Erbol Sultanbayev said, BelTA has learned.

A delegation from the CIS Executive Committee participated in a requiem rally to honor Hero of the Soviet Union Dzhumash Asanaliev and laid flowers at his memorial on 30 April.

"We have gathered today to once again honor the memory of our heroic ancestors: our fathers and grandfathers, soldiers who fought on the war fronts and homefront workers who supported them," the ambassador said. "Together with all brotherly nations, Kyrgyz warriors endured the harsh path of fighting fascism, relentlessly crushing the invaders on all fronts, including in the liberation battles for Belarus. As they fiercely advanced toward victory, around 30,000 Kyrgyz soldiers laid down their lives on Belarusian land. Among them was Dzhumash Asanaliev, then a very young soldier, who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Dzhumash Asanaliev is not only a symbol of military valor and a war hero but also a strong bridge of friendship between Kyrgyzstan’s and Belarus’ peoples."

Ambassador Erbol Sultanbayev expressed gratitude to the Belarusian people for their dedication to preserving the memory of Kyrgyz soldiers. "Just recently, in April, in Beshenkovichi District of Vitebsk Oblast, at the memorial complex where Dzhumash Asanaliev is buried in a mass grave, a Victory park was established to honor the 80th anniversary of Victory and Kyrgyz warriors," he noted. "All these events are aimed at preserving historical truth and ensuring continuity of generations. This responsibility lies with all of us. So, let me wish everyone peaceful sky, well-being, happiness, and all the best."
