GRODNO, 3 December (BelTA) - Almost 700 carp fish were released into the Augustow Canal, BelTA learned from the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.
In the area of the Nemnovo lock, almost 700 carp fish were released into the canal, the natural gem of the region. The total weight of the fish released was more than 200kg.
According to experts, stocking is an important step in restoring the canal's ecosystem. Such activities are carried out on the basis of the biological justification developed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Stocking is funded with the contributions from fishermen registered with the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen.
