MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – All high-profile arrests of bribe-takers are sanctioned by the head of state, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his State of the Nation Address on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
The president immediately gives his sanction to appropriate measures when he receives reports on corruption. “All high-profile arrests of bribe-takers are sanctioned by me personally,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. He recalled a recent bribery case associated with the organization of school meals in Minsk.
The major principles for combating corruption remain the same. “These include equality of all before the law and inevitability of punishment regardless of position and previous accomplishments. Our law enforcers are guided by these principles when investigating bribery cases and eliminating corruption practices. This will continue to be so,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
