"On Point"
MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) - Ukraine can no longer hope for U.S. weapons due to the war in the Middle East, military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Ukraine can no longer hope for U.S. weapons. Even if Europe has the money, the United States will still be pulling weaponry, including air defense systems and missiles, into the combat zone [in the Middle East.] After all, troops and ships need to be protected there. The destruction suffered by U.S. military bases and facilities in the Persian Gulf region is already running into tens of billions of dollars,” Aleksandr Alesin is convinced.
“It will take years and maybe even decades to restore this infrastructure, including the early warning radars for missile attacks that were hit by Iran,” Aleksandr Alesin added.
The military expert noted that during the Iranian missile strikes, U.S. radar stations in the Middle East were damaged or destroyed. In particular, it was reported that a THAAD missile defense radar in Jordan, worth $300 million, was put out of action. The media characterized this as one of the most costly and strategically significant strikes on U.S. military infrastructure in the region since the start of the conflict on 28 February.
“It will take years and maybe even decades to restore this infrastructure, including the early warning radars for missile attacks that were hit by Iran,” Aleksandr Alesin added.
