MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) - Belarus fully supports China's vital interests in all international organizations, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic Sergei Aleinik told reporters, BelTA has learned.
On 18 October Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan.
"First of all, we paid great attention to the work of the High-Level Committee, which was established between the parliaments of Belarus and China. We identified further measures and steps to develop this committee. The committee plans to monitor the implementation of the agreements reached at the intergovernmental level. We will devote the next meeting to these issues," Sergei Aleinik said.
According to him, ways of deepening and expanding cooperation in an interregional format were also touched upon during the meeting. "Today, every region of Belarus has three or more partners among the regions of China. Interregional cooperation has a huge potential for further expansion. We can tap more into economic, social and humanitarian projects," the member of the Council of the Republic emphasized.
Cooperation between women's unions and youth of the two countries was on the agenda too. "All these areas will be the subject of further discussions at the inter-parliamentary level," Sergei Aleinik added.
"We fully support China's vital interests in all international platforms. The Chinese ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting the Republic of Belarus in international organizations," Sergei Aleinik concluded.
