After 500 tests done, no confirmed coronavirus cases in Belarus

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – As of 7 February, more than 500 people have been tested for coronavirus upon returning from China. All the tests have come back negative, BelTA learned from the press service of the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus.

According to the Healthcare Ministry, more than 100 out of 500 people showed symptoms of an acute viral infection. “All of them were taken to hospital and provided with the necessary medical assistance. Additional laboratory tests were carried out,” the press service informed.

The Healthcare Ministry emphasized that Belarus is undertaking a series of measures to prevent the penetration and spread of the 2019-nCoV virus in Belarus. The country has deployed thermal imaging sensors at border checkpoints. Entry screening is also in place at Minsk National Airport. In addition to that, clinical specimens are collected from people arriving from China at 23 border checkpoints.

People experiencing fever or other flu-like symptoms within 14 days after returning from China and other countries where coronavirus cases were confirmed are strongly advised to call an ambulance. They should tell a dispatcher about the symptoms and the day they returned from China.
