About 150t of humanitarian aid delivered to refugees stranded at Belarus-EU border

GRODNO, 8 December (BelTA) – About 150 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been delivered to refugees stranded at the border, Igor Gedich, a member of the Council of the Republic, told reporters, BelTA has learned.

8 December is the 31st day for the refugees at the border. They are living in a temporary accommodation facility in the transport and logistics center on the Belarus-Poland border. All this time, Belarus has been trying to provide them with comfortable living conditions.

"All in all, about 150 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been delivered to the refugee shelter, including about 80 tonnes of food, 20 tonnes of dairy products. This work continues," the Belarusian senator said.

According to him, the refugee shelter already has its routine. Today is a bath day in the mobile bath house for women and children. Belarus Red Cross has organized clown therapy for children.

"Over the past day, about 90 people sought the help of doctors. One child and three adults are being treated in a regional healthcare facility. Their condition is stable," Igor Gedich said. “Despite the freezing weather, the transport and logistics center provides acceptable accommodation conditions. Medical care is provided 24/7. Psychological help is available too.”

At the moment, according to the senator, about a thousand refugees are currently living in the transport and logistics center.
