‘A signal of hope’. Ukrainian MP responds to Lukashenko's call for Ukrainians to come to Belarus

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) - Artem Dmytruk, a member of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, stated in his Telegram channel that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko's invitation for Ukrainians to come to the country is a “signal of hope”.

“I want to sincerely thank Aleksandr Grigoryevich [Lukashenko] for his support of our citizens. His words are not just a gesture; they are a genuine signal of hope. For many Ukrainians who find themselves trapped by circumstances, whether in Ukraine or in Europe, this will serve as both motivation and support,” he wrote.

The politician noted that an increasing number of people are moving from Europe to Belarus and Russia because they “consider it safe”. "Firstly, they won't be extradited from there. Secondly, it's simply safer, both in terms of everyday life and in human terms,” he explained, also pointing to factors such as adaptation, affordability, high levels of education and healthcare, and the opportunity to live in a traditional spiritual environment.

At a ceremony to inaugurate the renovated bridge over the Pripyat River in Mozyr on 6 November Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that Belarus is ready to admit more migrants from Ukraine. “We are open. Please, come, Ukrainians. We will be happy to welcome you. We will provide your families and your children with the same quality of life as Belarusians have in terms of education and healthcare,” the head of state said.

He noted that many displaced persons from Ukraine are already working, including in Gomel Oblast. “We are ready to welcome them. For us, Ukrainians are a blessing. They are very hard-working people who understand us and speak the same language,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
