800 Lithuanian trucks moved to designated border parking in Belarus

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – The State Customs Committee has informed BelTA that 800 Lithuanian trucks have already been moved to specially designated areas near the border.

The State Customs Committee stated that until Lithuania resumes normal traffic through the Medininkai and Šalčininkai checkpoints, trucks with Lithuanian registration will not be permitted to cross the Belarusian border. More than 1,100 trucks remaining in Belarus, which are still awaiting the reopening of the border by the Lithuanian side, will be accommodated in designated parking facilities near the Belarusian border crossing points of Kamenny Log, Benyakoni, Berestovitsa, and Kotlovka.

The Belarusian side explained that this decision was made to ensure safety on border access roads and to protect the vehicles themselves.

The distribution of the 800 vehicles already parked is as follows: 350 at Berestovitsa, 160 at Benyakoni, 220 at Kotlovka, and 70 at Kamenny Log.

The State Customs Committee remarked: “Drivers who have complied with the official written requirements of customs authorities to move their vehicles to designated locations may leave Belarus.”
