2025 election in Belarus: Turnout of first-time voters exceeds 95%

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) - The turnout of first-time voters exceeded 95% at the 2025 presidential election in Belarus, Representative of the Public Election Observation Center, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Aleksandr Ivanenko said in the latest episode of BelTA’s project “The Nation Speaks”.
“2020 is an inoculation and food for thought for everyone: for the BRSM Youth Union, government bodies, public associations, political parties. Everyone started to work with young people, and the work is productive, multilevel, diversified,” Aleksandr Ivanenko said. “We have implemented the Your Voice First project. The turnout of first-time voters exceeded 95%. What does that mean? That young people decided to consciously cast their vote. The youth of 2025 have learned to see with their eyes, to think with their heads. Most importantly, they made a choice with their hearts.”

According to him, work with young people should be continued. “We have just finished this electoral campaign and are entering the electoral cycle of 2029, 2030. It is extremely important that we keep this pace in the work with youth, with the population in general,” the second secretary noted.

“Today in many countries there are two trends of youth participation in elections,” Andrei Belyakov, Head of the Center for Public Relations and Electoral Process of the Academy of Public Administration under the Aegis of the President of Belarus, member of the Scientific and Expert Council at the Central Election Commission of Belarus, said. “The first trend is when young people use their qualities, their potential to realize themselves in various manifestations, demonstrations and so on. This can be traced in the USA, in many countries of Western Europe. The second trend, which is being realized in Belarus as well, is when young people show their potential constructively, in the implementation of various projects, and of course, in voting. This year's presidential election confirmed that.”
