Welcome ceremony for Lukashenko in Muscat. Al Alam Palace Square, mounted guards, gun salvos

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – A welcome ceremony for Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on behalf of Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said took place in Muscat, BelTA learned.

Al Alam Palace Square was chosen as the place of the ceremony.

It is noteworthy that although the Belarusian president is on a working visit, the entire ceremony almost fully corresponds to the status of an official or state visit. The guards of honor, the national anthems, volleys of artillery guns... All these and other things are a sign of special respect from the host country.

The talks between the leaders are scheduled in an expanded format with the participation of members of the delegations. The leaders are also expected to have a one-on-one meeting later.

Al Alam Palace (Arabic for “Palace of the Banner”) is the official residence of the Sultan of Oman in Muscat. The palace was erected more than 200 years ago as the residence of the ruling Al Said dynasty. Al Alam Palace underwent a large-scale renovation in 1972 on the initiative of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. It has a bright and refined façade in gold and blue tones. The unique combination of traditional Omani architectural motifs with elements of modern aesthetics makes it one of Muscat's most famous landmarks. The monarch's residence is located in a picturesque harbor in the historic center of Old Muscat between the Jalali and Mirani forts.
Al Alam Palace is used exclusively for official events, state receptions and meetings with high-ranking foreign delegations.
