MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Aleksandr Volfovich as State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
Until now, Aleksandr Volfovich served as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Defense Minister.
The post of the State Secretary of the Security Council remained vacant since Valery Vakulchik, who worked on this post for less than two months, was appointed Aide to the President for Brest Oblast in October 2020.
Aleksandr Volfovich was born in 1967 in Kazan. he graduated from the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School In 1988, the Command and Staff Faculty of the Military Academy Of Belarus in 1998, the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2008.
Aleksandr Volfovich began his military career in 1988 in the Turkestan Military District. Since 1993 he served in the Armed Forces of Belarus where he worked in various positions in the training center for warrant officers and junior specialists (1993-2001), the protection and maintenance service of the Defense Ministry (2001-2005), and the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the brigade of the Northwest Operational Command (2005-2010).
From 2010 to 2012 he was deputy commander of the Western Operational Command. Since 2012, he served as the chief of staff - the first deputy commander of the troops of the Northwest Operational Command, and since 2015 - the commander of these troops. In 2018 he was appointed First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and in January 2020 - Chief of the General Staff.
