Strategic task set for Belarusian manufacturing sector

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – The strategic task for the manufacturing sector is to set up assembly plants for Belarusian engineering goods in the anchor countries, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a large meeting to discuss the country’s manufacturing outlook at the Palace of Independence on 9 April, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that food security is one of the most vital issues for Africa. Therefore, agricultural machines and equipment are especially in demand there.

"I know the challenges. Despite all the difficulties we need to work there. Those who are willing will find a way to work there," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Belarus has signed contracts to supply over 3,000 tractors, 80 combine harvesters and 30 dump trucks to Zimbabwe. More than 150 tractors were sent to the Togolese Republic. In 2024, shipments will be made to Nicaragua, Vietnam, Iran and Pakistan.

"Why, after the highest-level talks, are we not working with Equatorial Guinea? Obviously, we need to go further and expand cooperation. Our strategic task is to set up joint assembly plants of Belarusian engineering goods in the anchor countries. The key goal is to diversify exports. Any decision that is required of me is taken immediately. The necessary conditions have been created. You need to use the measures of financial support for Belarusian exports as actively as possible," the president demanded.
