Strategic research institute to be established in Belarus

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree to establish a Belarusian strategic research institute, BelTA has learned.

The institute will provide information and analysis services to government agencies, in particular, in strategic directions of domestic and foreign policies.

The institute will focus on scientific research, on studying trends in the development of international, public political and social and economic processes. It will also examine risks and challenges in the information sphere.

The institute will take care of working out recommendations with a view to improving the government policy in various fields. The institute will contribute to strategic planning documents (doctrines, strategies, concepts) developed by Belarusian government agencies.

Plans have been made to seek services of leading experts in the sphere of foreign and domestic policies, information technologies, and national security for the sake of analytical research into strategic matters concerning Belarus' sustainable development. For the sake of profoundly studying these matters the institute will maintain tight cooperation with government agencies, international organizations, domestic and foreign think tanks.
