MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia made important decisions in various areas at the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.
Two important documents in the area of security were considered at the session of the Supreme State Council. Belarus and Russia signed an interstate treaty on security guarantees in the Union State. The document was signed by the two heads of state – Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin. The Union State Security Concept has also been approved.
Several decisions relate to strengthening social security of citizens in the Union State, with a view to creating more favorable conditions for them. First, unified rules of consumer protection in the Union State have been established. They will let millions of citizens of Belarus and Russia feel more protected in the system of relations with sellers, manufacturers, suppliers of goods and services. Second, comfortable tariffs for the use of communication and data transfer services in the Union State shall come into force on 1 March 2025.
Next year, the unified electricity market will also be gradually formed in the Union State. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the relevant interstate agreement. The document is designed to minimize losses in power grids, balance tariffs, ensure mutual electricity flow, and strengthen energy security of Belarus, Russia, and the Union State in general.
A plan of events has been adopted to mark an important anniversary in 2025 - the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The events will be held in Belarus and Russia. They will include a patriotic forum, a concert on Victory Square in Minsk, campaigns to tidy up and landscape memorial complexes and burial sites of those who died during the Great Patriotic War, joint press events and press tours.
The participants of the session heard reports on the fulfillment of the main directions of the implementation of the provisions of the Union State Treaty for 2024-2026.
Certain measures were approved to counter the illegal import of goods into the Union State, and amendments were made to the regulations on the Union State Standing Committee. Necessary decisions were also taken to prepare for the next Supreme State Council meetings.
