MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has contagious positive energy, Governor of Russia's Leningrad Oblast Alexander Drozdenko told reporters as he shared his impressions of the meeting with the Belarusian leader, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Drozdenko noted that the ongoing visit differs from the previous ones. “During the previous visits, we talked about the state and prospects of cooperation within the framework of current projects. Today the visit is different. We talked about new cooperation opportunities that have emerged in Russia, Belarus, Leningrad Oblast. We are already expanding our trade. Last year we had a record high trade of more than $700 million. This year we expect at least a thirty percent increase,” the Russian governor said.
“Today's conversation is different. Most importantly, there is no pessimism in these talks. The president is always upbeat. You know, he has huge positive energy, which is surprising (this is not our first meeting). He energizes everyone around with this positive energy. The most important thing is an absolutely optimistic view of the future. Indeed, there are sanctions and everyone is having a hard time. But it seems to me that at the same time this is such a good chance for us to get together and explore new opportunities,” Alexander Drozdenko said.
