MOSCOW, 7 October (BelTA – TASS) – Russian President Vladimir Putin will present Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko with the Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, Russia's highest state award, during a solemn ceremony on 9 October. The ceremony will follow the bilateral talks, Yury Ushakov, aide to Russia's president, said at a briefing on 7 October, BelTA has learned.
"Following the summit Vladimir Putin and Aleksandr Lukashenko, who will extend his visit to Moscow, will hold a bilateral meeting on 9 October. This will be the eighth meeting of the leaders since the beginning of the year," Yury Ushakov said.
"A solemn ceremony of presenting Aleksandr Lukashenko with the highest state award of the Russian Federation, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called, will be held after the bilateral talks in St Andrew Hall of the Kremlin,” Yury Ushakov stated. The Belarusian leader “is awarded for his outstanding services to the allied relations and strategic partnership”, friendly ties between the peoples of Russia and Belarus, and the effective development of the Union State.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived in the Russian Federation on a working visit on 7 October. The president is expected to take part in the CIS Heads of State Council meeting in Moscow on 8 October.
