Prosecutor General's Office to arrange meeting on law enforcement performance

MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – The Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus is preparing a large-scale meeting with the law enforcement, defense and security agencies, Prosecutor General Andrei Shved told journalists on 24 January, BelTA has learned.

“At the instruction of the head of state, the Prosecutor General's Office will hold a meeting soon to take stock of the performance of the law enforcement, defense and security agencies,” Andrei Shved said.

Speaking at the meeting will be the prosecutor general, as well as the heads of all law enforcement, defense and security agencies on the shortcomings identified by the prosecutors.

According to Andrei Shved, the meeting is to take place in February or shortly after the referendum, which is scheduled for 27 February.

“This is a new format. It is aimed at discussing the issues and taking action to eliminate them based on the results of the supervisory work of prosecutors. First of all, this pertains to the work of law enforcement,” the prosecutor general said.
