MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – The meeting between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Cuba President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez has started in the Palace of Independence in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The president of Cuba has brought a big delegation with him. Belarus is represented by ministers, heads of government agencies and organizations.
The meeting of the heads of state began with a formal greeting and a photo ceremony - this is a mandatory element of official visits at the highest level.
Aleksandr Lukashenko and Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez will map out plans to step up bilateral interaction with a focus on advancing cooperation in trade, economy, science, and technology. The heads of state will discuss the global and regional agenda as well as Belarus-Cuba interaction on multilateral platforms.
While in Belarus, the Cuban president is expected to visit mechanical engineering enterprises and pharmaceutical companies in addition to taking part in the Eurasian Economic Forum and a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
