Belarus president's inauguration ceremony to take place at Palace of Independence today

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) - The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be held at the Palace of Independence on 25 March. The ceremony is to commence at noon, BelTA has learned.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Grand Ceremonial Hall - the largest hall in the Palace of Independence. More than 1,100 people are expected to attend the event. Aleksandr Lukashenko will take the Presidential Oath, which reads as follows: “In assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Belarus, I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of the Republic of Belarus, to respect and protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, to observe and protect the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, to fulfill the high duties entrusted to me in a holy and conscientious manner”.

The ceremony will be aired live on the website of the President of the Republic of Belarus, by the First News TV channel and also Belarus 1, ONT, STV and MIR TV channels. The will also be made available on videobel.by and BelTA’s YouTube channel.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will travel along Nezavisimosti Avenue and Pobeditelei Avenue, two main avenues of Minsk, for the inauguration ceremony. The motorcade will head off at 11.45. It will be flanked by a motorcycle-mounted escort. The motorcade will drive 13km to the venue of the inauguration - the Palace of Independence. The journey will be broadcast live. The motorcade will travel at a speed of 60 km/h.

The inauguration ceremony will be followed by a ceremony to swear the oath of allegiance by the military to the Belarusian people and the President of the Republic of Belarus at the State Flag Square next to the Palace of Independence.
