MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has given instructions to streamline and organize the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid for refugees at the border, BelTA has learned.
During a government conference on 11 November the head of state suggested transporting children of the refugees to sanatoriums and gave instructions to prepare everything necessary for it. But the refugees did not want to part with their children and asked for assistance right at the border. Food was mentioned, the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo clarified.
In the morning on 13 November orders came from the president: the army has to set up tents where all the incoming aid will be collected. Children will be fed over there and aid will be evenly distributed among the rest of the refugees. “Those responsible for accomplishing the task have already started working,” the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko put Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova in charge of overall coordination of the humanitarian campaign on 11 November. Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross Society Dmitry Shevtsov and the senator Viktor Liskovich take care of this work at the site. Border guard personnel have been instructed to provide all kinds of support to the humanitarian mission.
