New Belarus president aide, inspector for Minsk Oblast appointed

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – Aleksandr Kokhan has been appointed Aide to the President of the Republic of Belarus, Inspector for Minsk Oblast. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant personnel decision, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Kokhan has been working as the chairman of the Petrikov District Executive Committee up till now.

“Are you afraid of undertaking responsibility for Minsk Oblast? You will be eyes and ears of the president in this central region,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“I cannot say I am afraid. It is kind of scary. Certainly, I will try to justify this trust,” Aleksandr Kokhan said.

“And who will work in Petrikov?” the head of state wondered.

First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov said that the Gomel Oblast governor had already selected a number of candidates. The current deputy chairperson of the Petrikov District Executive Committee is one of them.

“Keep in mind that there will be no calm life over there. I don’t go there as frequently as I used to not because war is nearby. War is not the problem. I am going to more frequently visit that region, the Pripyat River area in the near future. It is one of my most favorite places. People over there are good. I started my presidential work from there. When I came there for the first time, people asked bread from me. And I borrowed a bread bakery from the army and redeployed it to your current district. This is how I started working in your district,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“The population remembers everything you’ve said and it is indeed very grateful for the attention you’ve paid. Petrikov is a totally different town now,” Aleksandr Kokhan noted.

“You live in paradise now. There were no roads or anything over there in the past. This is why I want to visit Petrikov,” the president added.

The head of state also discussed the work of the Soligorsk-based potassium factory with his new Minsk Oblast aide. Aleksandr Kokhan knows this topic since the Petrikov deposit of potash salts offers a significant stock of raw materials for maintaining and increasing the manufacturing output of the enterprise.

“As for the potash factory, it works well. It extracted over 1 million tonnes of ore last year,” Aleksandr Kokhan said.

“But do they help you as we’ve agreed?” Aleksandr Lukashenko wondered.

“They do. We’ve opened a computer tomography room this year. We’d redecorated the maternity home before that. We are now reconstructing the town of Kopatkevichi. And Belaruskali helps us over there as well. This is why we certainly enjoy cooperation and aid,” Aleksandr Kokhan reported.

“So there are no complaints about them, are there?” the president asked for clarification.

“None. On top of that they have taken over one agricultural enterprise. The agreements within the framework of the instructions you’ve given are fully honored,” Aleksandr Kokhan added.
