
MINSK, 7 March (BelTA) – Belarus welcomes Myanmar's decision to upgrade its diplomatic representation in the country, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the expanded-format talks with Chairman of the State Administrative Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing, BelTA has learned.

The head of state welcomed Myanmar's decision to upgrade its diplomatic representation in Belarus (the Myanmar ambassador to Moscow will be accredited as non-resident ambassador to Minsk).
“We will also move in the same direction,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar were established on 22 September 1999.
In 2022, Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Vladimir Borovikov was appointed non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Myanmar.
