Lukashenko writes inauguration speech himself

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko wrote and edited the inaugural address himself, press secretary of the Belarusian head of state Natalya Eismont told the First News Channel.
“As much as it is important for all of us to hear what the president has to say today, it is also important for him to be heard. As usual, the president prepared this speech himself, relying on what was suggested by the Belarus President Administration and other government agencies. Of course, the speech was edited and is still being edited, and I can assume that at these very moments the head of state is thinking about it. He is thinking about what accents to make and what to say to us,” the press secretary said.

She said that the inauguration ceremony will be classic and very solemn. At the same time, there are certain nuances that were additionally brought in during its preparation. “The president was immersed in all the details of the preparation, saw the order, adjusted something,” Natalya Eismont said.

For example, on the president’s instructions, the motorcade journey will be broadcast live on specially installed big screens. “This is an additional element of anticipation. I think it will bring something special to the atmosphere of this hall. It will be done for the first time,” the press secretary said.

In addition, a unique exposition of gifts to the Belarusian head of state from foreign leaders has been displayed in the exhibition center next to the Palace of Independence, where guests initially come before proceeding directly to the inauguration venue. “These gifts have been taken out of the Palace of Independence for the first time. It is a very interesting exhibition. It represents  a vast geography,” Natalya Eismont said.

An important part of the event will be a ceremony held at the State Flag Square during which the military will swear allegiance to the Belarusian people and the President of Belarus.
