Lukashenko welcomes participants of conference to mark CIS' 30th anniversary

MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to participants of the international conference “30 years of the Commonwealth of Independent States: Outcomes and prospects”, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“It is symbolic that Belarus presides in the organization in its anniversary year, because our country was one of the originators and advocates of this integration association,” the message reads.

The head of state noted that the CIS has succeeded as a modern international regional organization and a unique dialogue platform that accommodates the interests of the participating countries. The Belarusian leader called the Commonwealth an example of profound and equal integration of sovereign states that have preserved historical, cultural and family ties between peoples.

“Belarus remains committed to strengthening economic, diplomatic and humanitarian ties within the CIS and a more efficient use of cooperation potential,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The president wished the participants of the conference success in exploring new areas of interstate cooperation for the benefit of the CIS countries and peoples.
