Lukashenko: We need to double down on efforts to keep pace

PETRIKOV DISTRICT, 24 May (BelTA) - We need to double down on efforts to keep pace, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his working trip to Petrikov District on 24 May, BelTA has learned.
After inspecting the production and use of wood pellets in Lyaskovichi, Aleksandr Lukashenko came to the Lyaskovichi commercial dairy farm of the agricultural enterprise Agro Lyaskovichi to take stock of the progress made in its modernization following the best practices of the Parokhonskoye agricultural enterprise.

The president recalled his first visit to the farm some27-28 years ago. “This is my youth. My destiny,” he said.

Times were not easy then, and back then there were attempts to establish the Polesie People’s Republic in these places. “Times were turbulent then,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko came to talk to the local people then to convince them that Polesie could not exist and develop on its own.

The head of state recalled how he was offered to scythe grass together with the locals, and the president knows how to do very well. The local people supported Aleksandr Lukashenko then.

“He is one of us! I remember these words very well. It was near Pripyat,” the president said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko was briefed on the commercial dairy farm modernization plans. The head of state instructed to pick up the pace in the implementation of the plans. “We need to double down on our efforts if we want to survive. If we do not speed up, we will be trailing behind. We produce the same things the entire world makes. Competition is fierce. Therefore, we must at least double the pace,” he added.

The head of state has set a deadline until the new year and intends to personally inspect the result afterwards.

“Mobilize people and remember: discipline is above all. There should be iron discipline. We want to work according to technology and get results,” the head of state said. “Procrastination is out of question. We need to have it [project] implemented by the new year.”

According to Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov, the head of state was briefed on the construction of the new complex. “The perspective here is very simple. The first thing is that we need to make money. Milk is fast money. Accordingly, it is necessary to create conditions for keeping cattle as well as decent working conditions. Therefore, we decided that by the end of the year we will build two barns with a milking and dairy unit made of wooden structures,” said Yuri Nazarov. “In order to have milk, it is necessary to feed the cattle. Therefore, the second issue is the fodder base. Today we are working with the Polesie Plant Growing Institute, improving crop rotation.”

The best practices of the Parokhonskoye agricultural enterprise is, first of all, the cultivation of perennial grasses to improve the fodder base.

Viktor Shaibak, Director General of the Managing Company of the Agro-Industrial Holding Company of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, said that the main goal is to get more profit in order to invest it in further modernization of the enterprise and increase workers’ salaries.

Both the Parokhonskoye agricultural enterprise and the Lyaskovichi farm use ameliorated lands for milk and meat production. They are higher in their fertility.

Modernization is set to increase milk production by 40% and expand the livestock from 1,600 to about 2,000 heads.

Vladimir Khrolenko, Director of the Parokhonskoye agricultural enterprise, reaffirmed that the priority task is to ensure fertile lands under the full demand. “It is necessary to put the lands in order here so that they give returns. Grass on these lands can be cut three or four times. That is the basis. The second thing is livestock management. Where there is comfort, there is milk. These investments will bring returns. When we have money, we can develop further. This means both new equipment and more workers. Three factors are fodder, comfortable workplaces and more workers.”
