Lukashenko: We must preserve peace in Belarus

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – Amid chaos and instability in the world, Belarus remains a quiet, peaceful country, and we must preserve it, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he attended the opening ceremony of Minsk International Exhibition Center on 8 May, BelTA has learned.

"We live in challenging times. We face multiple sanctions: some countries are trying to harm us. But we continue to live and develop. Moreover, we are implementing unique projects of the future, like this one," the president emphasized. "Everything depends on us. As I often say, let’s simply do our jobs. No need to invent anything new. Come to work, do your job, go home, relax on weekends... I ask nothing more of you. We will handle everything ourselves. Everyone must do their jobs: as President, I will deal with my responsibilities, the government will handle the economy, the President Administration will focus on politics, diplomacy, and other matters. Everything is structured. This system must function smoothly."

Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that many representatives of the new generation have become government members, as he had promised. These individuals are patriots who love their country and want to preserve it. At the same time, experienced officials remain in office to ensure continuity.

Speaking about the situation in the country, the president noted: "Belarus is a quiet, peaceful country with kind people. We must preserve it. This is especially significant as we approach the 80th anniversary of Victory in that terrible war. There is great turmoil around us."
"There are many unstable points that could escalate. It is crucial for us to prevent developments that would be unfavorable for Belarus. We must protect our country. Let’s live peacefully, work and appreciate the achievements created by our own hands," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
