MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – Belarus happened to be the key link in Western pressure on Russia. Belarus cannot betray its neighbor, the Russian people, and Russians in this confrontation. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement at a government conference held on 3 December to discuss the country's social and economic development, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the society is growing increasingly concerned because the West has started choking Belarus economically. “It is no secret that a hybrid war is in progress. The war began a long time ago. Not only against us. Primarily against the Russian Federation and we are a link in this pressure on Russia. Moreover, we happen to be at the forefront. This is why we are the first to suffer and not simply. The president of Russia and I see it, evaluate it, and act correspondingly and adequately,” he said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that Western plans to cut off “the Belarusian balcony” failed last year and now they have started realizing the next stages in the campaign of pressure in order to achieve their goals. The president has spoken publicly about these intentions and stages of pressure on Belarus many times. “Here is another stage: they use any methods (refugees and what not) in order to pressure us and pressure Russia via us. You see what is going on in between the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea. And we happened to be the key link in pressure on the Russian Federation. Can we change our policy and betray Russia, the Russian people, Russians? We can't,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
