Lukashenko: We are taking an exam before Belarusian people

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) - The government is taking an exam before the Belarusian people. Despite some flaws, the system established in the state is working effectively in general, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a teleconference on 19 July, BelTA has learned.

“Remember that no calm situation can be expected this year. This is not because we are starting something in the pre-election year. Although this is also important. We are passing, as I always say, an exam to the Belarusian people. Not to Americans, not to Poles, not to Europeans. We do not care about their opinion, although we are ready to take their opinion into account. We work for our people. We are taking this exam today,” the Belarusian leader stressed. “Whoever the president is later, the people should see that the system of power, established by us, is effective.”

“I cannot say that someone is skipping out on work, not doing their job properly, and so on. The system works. However, there are failures, certain shortcomings,” the head of state said.

According to him, the thunderstorms that have recently hit the country revealed some of these shortcomings, as not everyone was ready to promptly respond to their aftermath. “I always ask you to compare it with warfare, only without shooting. This is kind of a good training for us. We will make all the appropriate conclusions,” the president said.
