Lukashenko warns against dividing society over coronavirus

SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 3 April (BelTA) – It is absolutely unacceptable to divide the society over the fight against coronavirus, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in Smolevichi District answering questions of reporters on 3 April, BelTA has learned.

The head of state mentioned the farm that he visited in Smolevichi District. “Tell me how to milk cows distantly or how to announce a day off there? This is not real. Meanwhile, some will stay at home without work and get paid. Is it fair? We are dividing the society. We should not do it, therefore we are not prohibiting anything for anyone, we are not pressurizing anyone. However, as a state we are doing everything to protect people. Not only this year. It has always been like that,” the Belarusian leader said.

“I pray to God that we will be able to go on the same way as today, though everyone is clamoring that something is not right. I hope we will be able to hold out this way,” the head of state said.

The statistics will be analyzed on Tuesday. “Despite this frenzy over alleged deaths here, we are experiencing the overall decline in death rates and the overall decline in pulmonary diseases,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He noted that the ongoing developments made everyone pay more attention to hygiene. “However, most importantly, we have shaken up our entire healthcare system. We are keeping our finger on the pulse and watching how doctors are working. They should not close or open borders, they should treat people. This is their business. The state should help people overcome this difficult period. However, from my point of view, there is no catastrophe here,” the president said.
