Lukashenko warns about threat from dangerous 'educator'

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko warned about the threat from dangerous and aggressive “educator” for children as he spoke at the Nationwide Conference on Teaching on 27 August, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of state, all the ministries and agencies keep responsibility for the educational role of the education system. “It is very good that the military and representatives of internal affairs bodies have been recently actively involved in ideological and educational work, helping our schools. This is a very right decision. Patriotic education should be in good hands,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“But let us not forget about another “educator” of our children, an aggressive and dangerous one. It is the internet. We are facing another serious challenge,” the president said.

The head of state oriented everyone - teachers, parents, law enforcement agencies, public associations, opinion leaders - to consolidate as much as possible to solve this problem. “We need to know whether we are doing enough to form children's skills of safe online behavior, understanding the basics of information hygiene. It is necessary to analyze and strengthen this work significantly,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president spoke positively about what the school is doing in this direction, including excursions, search work, military-patriotic clubs and classes. “This distracts the child from the unnecessary internet environment, shows how interesting real, not virtual life can be, what opportunities are open for everyone's realization,” he believes.
