Lukashenko wants next five years in Belarus as productive as possible

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – We need to live this year and the next five years in the way so as to feel no regrets for wasted years before future generations, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received a report on the 2025 state investment program on 15 January, BelTA has learned.

The head of state pointed out that both this year and the entire five-year period will be challenging. "I am saying this frankly. You see, none of the presidential candidates can realize this, because they do not have the information [that the incumbent head of state has]. This is why I am telling you this as the incumbent president. I started warning you six months ago," the Belarusian leader said.

Among the main factors that will influence the situation in the country to some extent, the president highlighted the economic performance of Russia. "Russia will remain our main market. But we need to realize that things will be very difficult on the Russian market. It will not be easier on the CIS market," the head of state warned. The forecast for Russia is cautious: the economic growth within 1.5-2.5%, double-digit bank interest rates, growing budget deficit of more than RUB1.2 trillion.

"This is why we should be more proactive. We need to live not only this year, but also the next five years in a way as to avoid being ashamed and embarrassed in front of future generations," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
