Lukashenko wants new generation to rise to power

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to carefully build a system in Belarus to allow a new generation to rise to power. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during a meeting timed to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“We need to carefully build a system not for the sake of transitioning power from Lukashenko to Petrov, to Sidorov… No. For the sake of allowing a new generation to rise to power. The people in attendance are new people. In fact, they are in power. Leaders of political parties, MPs, and young parliamentarians. People, who have proven themselves as patriots able to hold on to the country, can continue perfecting it. And preserve it by perfecting it,” the president said. “I very strongly hope that they… No, I don’t want them to preserve Belarus the way it is now. And there is no need to preserve it in this state. It will evolve into a different country anyway and will get better. But I strongly hope that these will be accurate, smart people, whose decisions to perfect the country will be prompted by life. It is the most important principle. The evolutionary principle is.”
