MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) — If senior citizens want to work, we should give them such an opportunity, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he heard out the report on improving welfare policies on 15 October, BelTA has learned.
"There is a question, an interesting one, I would say, on the part of senior citizens. Some of those who have retired want to continue working. Trade unions and other organizations also confirm this. Certainly, we should create comfortable working environment for them. As you know, the demand in the labor market is very high," the head of state said. "If senior citizens want to work, we should provide them with such an opportunity."
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that seniors who are willing to work re-enter the workforce themselves. "What is wrong with that? If people want to work, we need to give them an opportunity to work,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
