MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – It is necessary to finish construction work at the Minsk International Expo Center by May. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions as he visited a new section of the third line of the Minsk metro on 30 December, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “As for the expo center. I didn’t force you to rush its opening. But I want to warn you that the expo center should be built from the door to the conference hall the way they [foreign investors] promised. At their expense. And there can be no deviations from it. It is a good design, this is why everything needs to be done.”
The president drew attention to the beautification of the surrounding territory and park areas: “People should be able to go outside and rest. Let them do it. First of all, they are not poor. Secondly, it is a convenient design. Don’t even tell them to come to me.”
“The expo center should be commissioned on a turn-key basis. Including parking lots, lights, and everything else. It has to be the face. After all, a foreign company is building it. When the president and I were discussing it in the Emirates, he asked me how they were doing. I didn’t go into details and said that they were working well. This is why everything has to be done properly. The entire complex should be ready by 9 May. Just as they promised to me,” the president demanded. “Everyone is treated equally: the Chinese and these ones. Xi Jinping has also warned me: if our people work bad, tell me about it.”
“Otherwise, they start running about and proving something. Who is closer to the president and who is farther. You and Minsk residents are the closest people to the president in Minsk,” Aleksandr Lukashenko told Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev.
